Drawing & painting exhibition
''Models and portraits'' was the theme of the art exhibition from january 15th till february 15th at Cantinella in Paris. I used mainly charcoal as I believe it helps highlghting expressions and traits. Besides the charcoal, drawing with a brush dipped in turpentine added an effect of wash painting. I used also black and white chalk pastel to highlght the contrast. The exhibition consisted of thirteen works and included three oil paintings.

Portrait art has always existed in almost all the civilisations. Wether it was realistic or impregnated with religious or special spirit, the portrait represented along with sculpture the sole and unique method to preserve and transmit the person image until the rise of photography. There are so many ways to realise a portrait. The most obvious desire is to reproduce a portrait that resembles the person as much as possible. Sometimes it gets to be like an obsession that seeks to enter in a competition round with photography...This is not my vision of portrait. No competition, no rivalry, it is more a question of personal and subjective feelings ! Body and face expressions remain a hint to unveil combined emotions that lie underneath.
